Minister Kusari-Lila: Green transition, priority for Kosovo’s industrial development and competitiveness

The Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, participated today in the conference organized by the GAP Institute, where the report “Green Industrial Policies” was presented.

Në këtë ngjarje, së bashku me ministren e Ekonomisë, Artane Rizvanolli, dhe drejtorin ekzekutiv të Institutit GAP, Blendi Hasaj, u diskutuan sfidat dhe mundësitë që lidhen me tranzicionin e gjelbër, si dhe hapat institucionalë për sigurimin e energjisë së qëndrueshme dhe rritjen e prodhimit nga burimet e ripërtëritshme, si parakusht për zhvillimin industrial të vendit.

Minister Kusari-Lila presented the priorities of the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation (MIETI) in this regard, including the five-year agreement with the Swiss Government, support for businesses through LuxDev and SDC grants, as well as facilitating access to finance through the Kosovo Credit Guarantee Fund.

During the discussion, special attention was paid to the development of green industrial parks and the promotion of the circular economy..

The first Eco Park is expected to be built in Gjakova, where the properties have already been transferred to MIETI, while in parallel work is being done on the functionalization of industrial parks in 12 municipalities of the country.

Moreover, the importance of advancing quality infrastructure, recognizing certificates in the European Union market, strengthening dual education and preparing businesses for the implementation of the CBAM mechanism was addressed, with the aim of making “Made in Kosovo” products more competitive in international markets.

Minister Kusari-Lila emphasized that the green transition is no longer just a choice, but a necessity, underlining the need to accelerate reforms and investments that strengthen the competitiveness of the economy and increase Kosovo’s export potential.
