The Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation (MIETI), Mimoza Kusari-Lila, participated in a discussion with representatives of Kosovo companies in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, as part of the UK–Kosovo Tech Hub initiative, launched on June 25 at Tech Park Prishtina.
The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Kosovo, Jonathan Hargreaves, the Minister of Digitalization and Public Administration, Lulëzon Jagxhiu, as well as representatives of Kosovo companies already operating in the British market and other international markets. Their experiences and challenges were presented by Behar Fazliu (Arcus), Alban Sahiti (Tenton), Florim Shala (Kosbit), Erion Vrella (Gen Z Digital) and Erblina Idrizi (Imbus Peja).
During the discussion, developments in the ICT sector in Kosovo and the United Kingdom, the challenges of penetrating international markets, customer generation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, talent development, education and the importance of institutional support for the industry were addressed.
The meeting highlighted that Kosovar companies are already collaborating with large international companies and providing services in markets such as the United Kingdom, the United States of America and other countries. It was also assessed that promoting Kosovo as a safe destination for investment and innovation is essential for creating new partnerships and expanding the presence of local companies in global markets.
Minister Kusari-Lila emphasized that the UK–Kosovo Tech Hub has been established to serve as a platform that connects businesses, strengthens networking and promotes Kosovo’s potential in the global technology market, creating new opportunities for cooperation with British companies.
Kusari-Lila further announced that the first concrete steps of this initiative will be implemented during September and October through two B2B trade missions in London and Prishtina, which will enable Kosovo ICT companies to establish direct connections with potential partners from the United Kingdom.
The Minister also recalled that the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation, in cooperation with the Luxembourg Agency for Development Cooperation (LuxDev), has recently launched the grant scheme for innovation in the ICT sector, with a fund of EUR 1.16 million, aimed at supporting capacity building and innovation development in local companies.
