The Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, hosted the Director for Enlargement and the Western Balkans at the European Commission, Valentina Superti, with whom she discussed the priorities of cooperation between Kosovo and the European Union, with particular emphasis on the implementation of the Reform Agenda and the advancement of the country’s economic development.
During the meeting, Minister Kusari-Lila presented the progress achieved by MIETI in strengthening institutional capacities and implementing the reform in public administration, as part of the efforts to build more efficient and accountable institutions. She also announced the progress of the Draft Law on Entrepreneurship and Innovation, as well as the Draft Law on Late Payments, which are expected to create the basis for important reforms in support of the private sector.
The meeting also discussed the establishment of the Innovation Fund, the creation of new support schemes for women entrepreneurs, startups and innovators, with the aim of developing the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem in Kosovo.
The interlocutors also addressed trade barriers with Serbia and the Western Balkan countries, with the aim of creating a more functional, integrated and competitive market.
Part of the discussion was also the green transition, development of eco-industrial parks and empowerment of women in business through concrete initiatives, including the “She Rises 2026” conference and the establishment of a special unit within the new agency for entrepreneurship, which will be dedicated to supporting women entrepreneurs.
Minister Kusari-Lila emphasized that close cooperation with the European Commission remains of significant importance for advancing reforms, increasing the competitiveness of the economy and accelerating Kosovo’s path towards membership in the European Union.
