The Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, has emphasized that consumer protection remains one of the Ministry’s main priorities, announcing that MIETI is taking concrete steps to strengthen the capacities of the Central Inspectorate of Market Supervision (CIMS).
According to the minister, starting in August, the number of CIMS inspectors will increase from 25 to 43, while the goal is for this capacity to reach 100 market inspectors by the end of the year, in order to guarantee even more effective protection of citizens from manipulation, fraud and violations in the market.
On this occasion, Minister Kusari-Lila thanked the CIMS inspectors for their dedication and commitment, especially during the recent period, when a large number of inspections and field actions have been carried out.
During this period, CIMS has carried out a series of supervisory activities, including controlling the implementation of the decision on the sale of petroleum products, inspecting electricity meters, controlling the labeling and placement of plant-based and animal-based dairy products in markets, inspections of crypto currency businesses and exchanges that operate without a license, actions to prevent the sale of electronic cigarettes to minors, as well as joint inspections with the Kosovo Police, the Kosovo Tax Administration, the State Prosecution, the Food and Veterinary Agency and other relevant institutions.
Minister Kusari-Lila emphasized that inspections will continue every day, with the aim of protecting consumers and enforcing the law.
In conclusion, she expressed gratitude for the work of the inspectors of the Central Market Surveillance Inspectorate, appreciating their professionalism, integrity and dedication in protecting the public interest and strengthening citizens’ trust in state institutions.
